BUSINESS PORTRAITS:
I recommend, for men, medium to dark colored jackets in either a
solid color or muted pattern, a light to medium colored shirt and
a tie that coordinates with the jacket and shirt colors.
For women, I recommend either a jacket and blouse, or a blouse or
sweater in a solid color or a subdued pattern. Do not wear a white
blouse (unless you wear it under a jacket). It will be the brightest
part of the photo and your eye will be drawn to it instead of to
your face. Although it's not necessary, some women feel more confident
having their hair and/or makeup done professionally before their
portrait session.
FAMILY
PORTRAITS:
Everyone should agree on what "look" you want to convey, and then
dress accordingly. Do you want a sporty, casual look or a more "dressed
up" formal look to the photographs? For a really coordinated look,
try having everyone dress in similar (but not necessarily matching)
clothing. For example, everyone in jeans and various shades of yellow
shirts and sweaters. The location for the photos will also affect
what you will wear. If it's an outdoor session taken at a park or
in a backyard, you'll probably be dressed more casually than if
you were at a fancy ballroom for an anniversary party.
